The FIM MiniGP World Series is Dorna’s newest Road to MotoGP pathway program to ensure talent from a young age is developed correctly to improve the high level of skill, quick reaction, and accuracy that
motorcycle racing requires.
2024 saw the MNZ rule change to allow NZ juniors to train on MiniGP machines. We immediately saw the need to create a safe place for our juniors to learn on purpose build Mini Road Racing Machines.
Pathway to MotoGP
Our bikes are suitable from ages of 6 years old and up, with racing open from 7 years and older - however all juniors must pass a riding and theory assessment prior to entering formal competition.

MiniGP provides some amazing opportunities to juniors in this race class. NZ Cormac Buchanan is the latest Kiwi star to arrive at the world level Moto3 class.
Cormac used a Kayo MiniGP machine in the very early stages of his road racing career to develop his skills, he still uses that same bike today when he is home in between racing all over the world.
2019 Cormac then headed to Red Bull Rookies Cup Selection the following year. He is now at the top of the world competing against the best in Moto3

Dorna Sports is a sports management, marketing, and media company that organises and promotes motorcycle racing events. They have identified that to bring talent into fields such as MotoGP and World Superbike racing MiniGP racing must be the focus for juniors.
Dorna created a FIM MiniGP world series, where riders are selected to move into MotoGP development classes such as Redbull Rookies Cup.
